We are often appointed to work with Developer Clients to create additional Flat & Apartment accommodation. Individual projects of this nature can vary hugely from site to site dependant on whether the site requires a Change of Use, an extension or subdivision of an existing building, or additional storeys added to the building. In addition, flat layouts can be reconfigured to create improved accommodation for resale or rental purposes for example by changing a studio flat to a one bedroom flat or a one bedroom flat to a two bedroom, two storey maisonette.

This Client had purchased two 2.5m wide x 4.5m deep rooms one above the other accessed off the main stair landing to the rear of a lovely Regency building on Hove Seafront. The brief was to create a self-contained one bedroom flat out of 22.5m2 of floor area. The ceiling heights were generous as is typical for these buildings and it was decided to strip the intermediate floor & ceilings out and create an additional storey using all the available vertical space including the loft space. The kitchen, dining, shower room & bedroom are linked via a full height vertical shaft with a timber & steel spiral staircase.
