Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD)
Under the Building Safety Act 2022, many projects require the appointment of a Building Regulations Principal Designer to plan, manage and coordinate design work so that, if built, it will comply with the Building Regulations.
LF Architecture provides Principal Designer (Building Regulations) services for domestic and non-high-risk commercial projects, supporting clients and design teams from early concept stages through to construction.
What is a Building Regulations Principal Designer?
The Building Regulations Principal Designer is responsible for:
- Planning, managing and monitoring design work
- Coordinating designers and specialist consultants
- Identifying and addressing compliance risks
- Managing pre-construction information
- Supporting duty holders in meeting their legal responsibilities
- Ensuring that, if built, the design would comply with the Building Regulations
The role is required where there is more than one contractor on a project, and it sits alongside (but is separate from) the CDM Principal Designer role.
